SQA Lifeskills Mathematics courses

We offer Lifeskills Mathematics courses at Dingwall Academy in S5 and S6.

The Lifeskills Mathematics courses develop logical thinking and reasoning  skills up to National 5 level. Pupils will find these courses more accessible if they have good literacy skills as the Lifeskills courses involve solving complex problems based on real life contexts and the information is presented in a variety of ways

Before choosing to study Lifeskills Mathematics courses pupils should check that a qualification in Lifeskills Mathematics is acceptable as an entrance requirement for their chosen college or university courses. These entry requirements do vary between further education establishments and sometimes between departments within the same university.

The diagram below shows two distinct routes offered by the Mathematics department – the Lifeskills Mathematics route on the left. As you can see there is no Higher in Lifeskills Mathematics and there is no direct route from National 5 Lifeskills Mathematics to Higher Mathematics.
